Apartments — Vostok Permadeath Zone
The Apartments are located deep within Russian territory in the Vostok zone. This is the endgame space — a high-risk, high-reward extraction zone where the penalty for failure is absolute and unforgiving. Death in Vostok means permanent deletion of all progression: your shelter, stored resources, economic standing, and entire game state are instantly and irrevocably erased.
FULL PERMADEATH ACTIVE
One death in Apartments = total game over. All equipment, shelter upgrades, trader standing, and saved progress are permanently deleted. There are no second chances, no recovery, no "one more run." Only enter with maximum preparation and a clear extraction plan.

Understanding Permadeath in Vostok
The permadeath mechanic in Vostok is the defining characteristic of Road to Vostok's endgame. Unlike Area 05 where death only costs your carried equipment, or the Border Zone where Guards can be outmaneuvered, Vostok implements absolute and permanent consequences for failure.
When your character expires within any Vostok map, the game immediately and irrevocably deletes all saved data: your shelter and its upgrades, all stored loot and equipment, your global economic standing, your trader relationships, and your character progression. The only thing that persists is your Steam account and the game installation itself.

The Military Faction — Vostok
The Military is the ultimate adversarial force in Road to Vostok. They are the sole custodians of Vostok — a highly organized, heavily armed military faction equipped with military-grade automatic weaponry, body armor, and the terrifying capacity to deploy armored fighting vehicles.
Patrol Routes
Highly organized patrol patterns with overlapping coverage. Unlike Guards who can be evaded, Military squads systematically sweep zones.
Armored Vehicles
Mechanized units that can rapidly respond to player detection. Engaging them without heavy ordnance is suicide.
Heavy Ordnance
Military uses automatic weapons, mounted guns, and heavy caliber rifles. One engagement can rapidly become unsurvivable.
Strategic reality: Engaging Military without an explicit pre-planned extraction route is mathematically ill-advised. The loot tables justify the risk only for the most prepared players. Calculate every action's risk-to-reward ratio before committing.
Points of Interest
Apartment Complexes
High-density multi-story residential buildings. Dense loot spawns including rare items not found elsewhere. Multiple floors, interior rooms, and rooftop access.
Military Checkpoints
Fortified Military positions throughout the zone. These are the most dangerous but highest-loot locations. Expect organized resistance.
Rooftop Positions
Elevated vantage points with commanding views. High-value container spawns and sniper positions. Risky to access but worth the tactical advantage.
Underground Parking
Enclosed low-visibility area with vehicle storage. Can contain vehicle-mounted weapons and vehicle parts. Acoustic management critical.
Vostok Loot Tables — Maximum Tier
Vostok contains the most mathematically valuable loot tables in Road to Vostok. This is the economic driver that justifies the existential risk. However, extraction efficiency is critical — greed is the primary killer in Vostok.
| Item | Rarity | Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MK18 Rifle | Exclusive | Max value | Vostok Military crates only. 5.56x45, 740 RPM, rare. |
| AK-12 Rifle | Uncommon | Very high | 5.45x39, 700 RPM, 40 damage. Border/Vostok. |
| VSS Suppressed | Rare | High | Inherently suppressed. 9x39. Perfect for Vostok stealth. |
| Armor Plates (Level IV) | Max tier | Priceless | Required to survive Military ballistics. |
| Sauna Hat | Unique | 1000€ | One of the highest space-to-value items in the entire game. |
Vostok Survival Strategy
Surviving Vostok requires a fundamentally different psychological approach than Area 05. The risk-to-reward calculation must be constantly interrogated. Every action has an existential consequence.
Rule #1: Calculate Before Every Engagement
Before engaging any Military patrol, determine: can I extract with this loot if I win? If the answer is uncertain, do not engage. Let them pass.
Rule #2: Light Load-In, Heavy Load-Out
Enter Vostok with minimal equipment — you can recover from lost starting gear. Exit with maximum value. The goal is one successful Vostok raid to set up multiple future runs.
Rule #3: Silent Movement Only
The VSS suppressed rifle is ideal for Vostok. Loud weapons attract Military patrols from across the zone. One suppressed kill is manageable; one unsuppressed firefight is a death sentence.
Rule #4: Sauna Hat Farming
The Sauna Hat (1000€) is one of the most efficient items per inventory slot in the entire game. Finding even 2-3 per run is more valuable than chasing rare rifles with low spawn rates.
